次亜塩素酸ナトリウムは手指消毒衛生における欧州規格 EN 1500 の有効性要件を満たさない★

本研究では、2 種類の代替的な手指消毒薬として、次亜塩素酸ナトリウムまたは次亜塩素酸ナトリウム／次亜塩素酸をベースとした消毒薬の殺菌効果について、欧州規格 EN 1500 を用いて、大腸菌（Escherichia coli）で人工的に汚染させた被験者の手指においてイソプロパノールとの比較で評価した。基準となるアルコールを欧州規格に従って塗布し、本研究用の消毒薬を日常業務と同様に使用した（30 秒にわたり 3 mL）。両消毒薬によりそれぞれ平均で 1.63 および 1.89 の対数減少が示され、いずれも基準とされた処置（4.78）に達しなかった。30 秒間で十分な殺菌効果を達成できなかったことから、次亜塩素酸ナトリウム（0.05 ～ 0.06％）は手指消毒として使用を検討すべきではない。
監訳者コメント：
COVID-19 パンデミックで消毒薬が不足する事態となり、次亜塩素酸ナトリウムなどのアルコール・フリーの手指消毒薬も出回った。しかし、次亜塩素酸ナトリウム（0.05 ～ 0.06％）は3 mL・30 秒間で十分な手指消毒効果を示せなかった。
