Informing patient contacts about iatrogenic CreutzfeldteJakob disease

過去に脳神経外科手術を受けた患者で、思いがけず孤発性クロイツフェルト・ヤコブ病（sCJD）の診断が下される場合、曝露に関する通知を行うという決定は難しいものになり得る。ある患者が、脳神経外科手術を受けた 3 年後にsCJDを発症した。曝露の可能性のある患者が 29 例、曝露した患者が 26 例いた。12 例が質問票に回答した。患者の大部分は、曝露について知ることを望み、対面で知らされることを望んだ。またそれらの患者らにとって、口頭および書面で可能性は低いと保障されたとしても、疾患の発症が主要な懸念であった。患者に対してsCJDとの曝露があったことを知らせるのは難しいことであり、患者にとって大きな不安をもたらす可能性がある。対面での話し合い、相談窓口、およびフォローアップが役立つ可能性がある。

監訳者コメント：
クロイツフェルト・ヤコブ病の曝露について患者に知らせることはは発症の可能性は低いとしても患者に大きな不安を与えるため、難しい問題である。そうだとしても本研究のように知らされることを望んでいる患者は多く、十分に説明した上で不安に対するフォローができる体制をとる必要がある。
