クロストリジウム・ディフィシル（Clostridium difficile）感染症治療ガイドラインの遵守は再発率と死亡率の低減、費用節減と関連する。アイルランドの臨床医を対象とした本調査では、患者の治療には様々な方法が用いられていることが判明した。糞便細菌叢移植は、アイルランドおよび欧州のガイドラインで推奨されているにもかかわらず、十分には施行されていないといえる。

監訳者コメント：
アイルランドでは、C. difficile 感染症（CDI）は法律的に報告が義務付けられ、ガイドラインでの各治療の推奨の位置づけもはっきりしている。糞便細菌叢移植（FMT）は 2 回目以降の再発例に対して推奨されているが、今回の医師を対象としたアンケート調査では、FMT を 2 回目の再発に選択すると答えた医師は 8.5％、3 回以上の再発に選択すると答えた医師は 30.9％であった。FMT 施行に関する状況を鑑みるうえでも貴重な報告といえる。
