The antimicrobial activity of copper and cooper alloys against nosocomial pathogens and Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolated from healthcare facilities in the Western Cape: an in-vitro study

メチシリン耐性黄色ブドウ球菌(MRSA)、肺炎桿菌(Klebsiella pneumoniae)、緑膿菌(Pseudomonas aeruginosa)、アシネトバクター・バウマニイ(Acinetobacter baumannii)、カンジダ・アルビカンス(Candida albicans)、およびヒト型結核菌(Mycobacterium tuberculosis)の臨床分離株に対する銅および銅合金の抗菌活性を検査した。ステンレススチールおよびポリ塩化ビニルを対照として用いた。室温(24℃)および4℃において試験株の発育を阻害するのに必要な銅の含有量を測定した。室温では、銅、耐脱亜鉛腐食黄銅(DZR Brass)(銅62%、鉛2.5%、ヒ酸0.13%、亜鉛22.5%)、および70/30黄銅(Brass 70/30)(銅70%、亜鉛30%)はC. albicansおよびK. pneumoniaeの発育を 60 分で阻害し、ニッケル銀合金(NiAg)はC. albicansを60分、K. pneumoniaeを270分で阻害した。Brass 70/30およびNiAgは緑膿菌を180分で阻害し、銅およびDZRは270分で阻害した。銅およびDZRはA. baumanniiを180分で阻害したのに対し、その他の合金は360分で効果を示した。ステンレススチールおよびポリ塩化ビニルは、ほとんどあるいは全く阻害活性を示さなかった。M. tuberculosis 2株のうち、1株はイソニアジド耐性(R267)、もう1株は多剤耐性(R432)であり、これら2株に対して、銅はポリ塩化ビニルと比較してそれぞれ98%および88%の発育阻害を示した。その他の合金の阻害活性はこれより弱かった。陽性化までの時間は、R267に対しては銅15日以上、Brass 70/30は11日を超えていたが、その他の合金では11日であり、R432に対してはいずれも5日であった。病院内病原体およびM. tuberculosisに対する銅と銅合金の阻害効果は、銅の含有率が55%を上回る場合に最大となった。
