本稿は、2012 年後半に開催された前回の Healthcare Infection Society（HIS）総会以降の感染予防・制御に関する文献にみられるトレンドの一端を非公式に調査したものである。Googleトレンド を用いて、様々な感染制御の話題への関心の量が経時的にどのように変化したかを調べた。Google 検索でエボラはその他の話題を上回り、文献発表の急増が反映されていた。エボラ以外に本稿で取り上げる感染予防・制御に関する文献のトレンドは、中東呼吸器症候群（MERS）コロナウイルス、普遍的介入と標的を定めた介入との比較、糞便細菌叢移植、全ゲノムシークエンシング、カルバペネム耐性腸内細菌科細菌、および環境科学に関するいくつかの話題などについてである。本総説では最後に、現在から次回 2016 年の HIS 総会までの感染予防・制御に関する文献のトレンドの予測を試みる。
