Preparations and limitations for prevention of severe acute respiratory syndrome in a tertiary care centre of India

この感染制御対策に関する短期観察研究は、重症急性呼吸器症候群（SARS）のアウトブレイクの脅威にさらされていた期間中に、インドの第三次病院の内科救急外来で実施された。研究査者は、SARS症状のある患者をスクリーニングするために、毎日ロビーを訪れた。患者/付添い人の数、患者の流れ、および医療従事者の業務と内科救急外来での位置を観察した。燻蒸消毒や清掃などの感染制御対策を記録したほか、内科救急外来の検査室機能、個人用防御器具の使用、および感染症に関する情報の掲示についても記録した。調査した患者2,165例中、計162例（7.4％）が呼吸器症状を有していたが、SARS症例は認められなかった。患者および患者の付添い人の流れは規則性がなかった。利用可能なSARSの臨床検査法はなく、SARSに関する教育資材は掲示されていなかった。主要な病院の内科救急外来は感染症、特にSARSおよび鳥インフルエンザの脅威を考慮したスクリーニングができるようにする必要がある。
