Acanthamoeba castellanii interferes with adequate chlorine disinfection of multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa

ヴェローナ・インテグロン由来メタロβ–ラクタマーゼ（VIM）陽性緑膿菌は、治療が困難な院内感染症の原因菌であり、Acanthamoeba 属と共に病院の給水ネットワークに定着しうる。VIM 陽性緑膿菌はA. castellanii の細胞内に寄生することで、現在使用されている病院消毒薬による死滅を回避できるかどうかを調べるために、in-vitro 消毒モデルを開発した。A. castellanii の存在により、30 秒または 2 分間の塩素曝露後の VIM 陽性緑膿菌の生存率が有意に増加することが観察された。この望ましくない影響は、70％アルコールまたは 24％酢酸による消毒後には認められなかった。共焦点顕微鏡により A. castellanii の偽性嚢胞内に VIM 陽性緑膿菌の存在が確認された。本研究のデータから、A. castellanii は、塩素処理後の給水システムにおけるVIM 陽性緑膿菌の持続的な定着の一因となることが示された。
