医療従事者から患者への結核の伝播は、特に頑健な結核対策プログラムが実施されている施設ではまれである。本研究では、結核に感染した医療従事者を特定し、小児患者との 233 件の接触があった結核接触者調査について報告する。中等度リスクの接触 2 件で結核検査陽性であったが、発症は認められなかった。不要な検査を減らすため、医療機関における結核感染医療従事者による小児曝露の定義を改善するためのさらなる研究が必要である。

補足：本研究の概要は、活動性結核の研修医が感染性の期間（2019 年 9 月 28 日 ～ 2020 年 2 月15 日）に接触した 233 例の小児患者を特定した接触者調査を報告したもので、ハイリスク 113 例（48％）、中等度リスク 120 例（52％）であったが、評価はハイリスクの62％、中等度リスクの 38％に留まり、曝露患者の 50％が追跡不能だった。ハイリスク群の43 例（ベースライン評価者の 61％）がウィンドウ予防投与の対象（<5 歳 92％、免疫抑制8％）であった。調査は COVID-19 パンデミックの影響で最大5か月遅延した。全体として曝露は 233 例と多かったが陽転率は 1％未満と低かった。
