表皮静脈カテーテルは、新生児医療に不可欠であるが、閉塞や感染を起こしやすい。本パイロット研究では、1 時間の生理食塩水によるロックを適切なフラッシングと逆流防止コネクタと併用した場合に、カテーテル開存性に影響を与えるか評価した。カテーテル開存性は、代替指標として注入圧（ロック前後）を用いて評価した。結果は短期間ロックの実現可能性と安全性を支持し、新生児医療における抗菌ロック溶液の将来的な使用に向けた基盤を築いた。
