背景

病院内で患者に非常に近い表面は、医療関連感染を引き起こす可能性がある。これらの表面は、病原体の保管場所となっていて、職員や患者の間での伝播を促進している。これらの表面を定期的に掃除し消毒しても、病原体を一時的に除去できるだけで、再汚染は避けられない。そのような表面を抗菌コーティングすることによって、病原体の伝播のリスクを更に減少させられる可能性がある。

目的

現場での研究を我々の大学病院の 2 つの集中治療室(ICU)で実施し、標準的な光力学的抗菌コーティングと新規の光力学的抗菌コーティングの有効性を、光強度の非常に低い状況においても評価すること。

方法

微生物量を 3 つのコーティング上で測定した。すなわち、標準的な光力学的抗菌コーティング(A)、新規の光力学的抗菌コーティング(B)、対照として不活性の抗菌コーティング(C)である。対照のコーティング C は、標準的なコーティング A と同一であるが、光増感剤を含んでいなかった。3 か月間で、699 個の標本が、同一の表面から、eSwab を使って採取され、分析された(cfu/cm2)。

結果

対照のコーティング(C)で覆われた表面すべての平均値は、微生物量が 5.5 ± 14.8 cfu/cm2 であることを示した。光力学的抗菌コーティングでは、平均値が有意に低く、1.6 ± 4.6 cfu/cm2(コーティング A、P < 0.001)と2.7 ± 9.6(コーティングB、P < 0.001)であった。2.5 cfu/cm2 を基準とみなしたとき、微生物数が多い方になる相対リスクは、それぞれ、52%(コーティング A)と 40%(コーティング B)減少した。

結論

どちらの光力学的抗菌コーティングも、低光強度の ICU の患者に近い表面上の微生物数に関して、リスクを持続的にかなり減少させる。
