背景

呼吸器ウイルスは、唾液腺および咽喉に感染することが報告されており、これらの部位はウイルスの複製および伝播のリザーバとなる可能性がある。したがって、口腔粘膜における感染性ウイルス粒子の量を減らすための戦略により、伝播リスクを低減できる可能性がある。

方法

植物油由来のうがい液（Salviathymol®）について、欧州規格 EN 14476 に基づいた定量的懸濁試験を用いてそのウイルス不活化能を評価し、クロルヘキシジン製剤（Chlorhexamed® FORTE）と比較した。

結果

Salviathymol により、重症急性呼吸器症候群コロナウイルス -2（SARS-CoV-2）、RS ウイルス（RSV）株およびインフルエンザウイルス 2 株が、検出不能レベルにまで効率的に不活化された。

結論

Salviathymol は、呼吸器ウイルス伝播を低減する予防策となる可能性がある。

植物油由来のうがい薬の Salviathymol が、SARS-CoV-2、RS ウイルス、インフルエンザウイルスに対して有効性を示したという報告。呼吸器ウイルス伝播を低減する予防策となる可能性があるものの、実社会で効果があるかはさらなる検討が必要である。
