Haemostatic discs demonstrate physical efficacy against microbes commonly associated with central-line-associated bloodstream infections

背景

目的

グラム陽性菌（黄色ブドウ球菌［Staphylococcus aureus］）およびグラム陰性菌（肺炎桿菌［Klebsiella pneumoniae］、緑膿菌［Pseudomonas aeruginosa］）、ならびにカンジダ・アルビカンス（Candida albicans）に対する鉄酸カリウム含有止血ディスクの抗微生物能について評価すること。

方法

鉄酸カリウム含有止血ディスクの作用を、使用頻度の高いグルコン酸クロルヘキシジン（CHG）浸漬ディスクと比較して、活動性出血のリスクが高い場合における、CHG 浸漬ディスクの代替としての鉄酸カリウム含有止血ディスクの潜在的な有効性について評価した。

結果

抗凝固処理血液を用いた場合、止血ディスクには、血管アクセスデバイス関連感染症に関連することの多い微生物株の増殖に対する阻止効果が認められた。

結論

本研究の結果から、鉄酸カリウム含有止血ディスクは、止血作用と、in vitro 試験で認められた抗微生物活性という、2 つの臨床的ベネフィットをもたらす可能性が示される。

中心ライン関連血流感染症（CLABSI）予防として、圧縮された親水性ポリマーと鉄酸カリウム含有止血ディスク（StatSeal®; Biolife）の影響を評価した研究。鉄酸カリウム含有止血ディスクは、止血作用と抗微生物活性の 2 つの効果を有し、出血のリスクが高い場合に頻繁に使用されているグルコン酸クロルヘキシジン（CHG）浸漬ディスクの代替になりそうである。
