個人防護具（PPE）は医療従事者の安全のために不可欠である。新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID-19）パンデミック下における臨床使用目的での PPE の備蓄により、トレーニングのための利用が限られたため、物理的類似性の高い PPE（HPR-PPE）を調達するための新たなアプローチが必要となっている。本稿では、医療従事者のトレーニングを目的とした HPR-PPE のクラウドソーシングに関するケーススタディを報告する。調査の結果から、HPR-PPE は、PPE の装着および取り外しにおける遵守度の高い実践を可能にし、手順の想起を助け、使用者の信頼度を改善し、また医療用 PPE との類似性が十分であることが示された。HPR-PPE は、費用効果的な新たな代替法を提供した。本稿ではまた、パンデミック時の医療用 PPE の調達は、医療関連でない機関や企業から行うことが可能であることも示した。

パンデミック下での PPE の着脱のトレーニングは必要不可欠であるものの臨床使用優先で、トレーニングには利用できにくいのは万国共通の課題のようである。本研究は物理的類似性の高い PPE を使った新たなアプローチが紹介させており、今後の参考になる。
