背景
非凝縮性ガスの存在に関するリスクはすでに確認されているとはいえ、ルーチンモニタリングについて各滅菌サイクルで実施するさらなる試験が必要とされている。

目的
滅菌工程でのモニタリングに使用される物理的・化学的・生物学的インジケータの性能評価を、滅菌器内の非凝縮性ガス集積検出器と比較して評価すること。

方法
2 通りの制御不良状況(チャンバー内漏出、ドアシール不良)において蒸気滅菌工程をモニタリングするために、化学的インジケータ(タイプ 2 Bowie-Dick Test、タイプ 5・タイプ 6 モデル)、内蔵型の生物学的インジケータ、物理的インジケータ(温度、圧力、熱の適格性、特許取得済みの気体集積検出器)を使用した。既知の気体量の存在(チャンバー内漏出は 0 ~ 30 L/分、ドアシール不良は 0 ~ 30%)により2 通りの制御不良状況を設定した。工程試験用具の使用および未使用で評価試験を実施した。

結果
両試験とも、Bowie-Dick Test の結果が製造業者のインジケータによって異なることが示された。工程試験用具を未使用での生物学的・物理的・化学的インジケータは、2 通りのシミュレーションにおいて少量の非凝縮性ガスを検出できなかった。

結論
気体集積検出器は、各サイクルにおける非凝縮性ガスの検出の選択肢とみなすことができる。
