カルバペネム耐性腸内細菌目細菌（CRE）の保菌者に実施される選択的消化管除菌（ゲンタマイシン／アミカシンとネオマイシンとの併用）に関する院内方針により、保菌期間が短縮され、CRE の蔓延が阻止されるかどうかを評価するために、単一施設での中断時系列デザインによる準実験研究を実施した。観察期間（12 か月、患者 120 例）と介入期間（12 か月、患者 101 例）との間で、CRE 根絶までの期間に有意差は認められなかった。介入期間における新規の院内 CRE 獲得または菌血症の傾向に変化はみられなかった。このように、CRE 保菌者に対する選択的消化管除菌の実施は、保菌の根絶または CRE 院内伝播の制御のために有効ではなかった。

CRE 保菌者に対する選択的消化管除菌に関する研究である。アミノグリコシド＋ネオマイシンの併用では保菌根絶や伝播の制御に有効ではなかったとのことである。研究の結論としては、選択的消化管除菌は最近のガイドライン通り推奨されず、糞便移植など他の方法が試みられるべきだとしている。
