製造業者指定の使用期限を過ぎた備蓄品の N95 マスクおよびサージカルマスクの放出：フランスでの経験

背景
新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID-19）のパンデミック中の N95 マスクとサージカルマスクの不足を軽減するため、使用期限を過ぎた備蓄品が放出され得る。
目的
診療科への安全な配布のために期限切れのサージカルマスクと N95 マスクのバッチの一元的検査を行い、使用者の時間を節約すること。
方法
保健当局の指示に対する遵守検査を開発し、2020 年 3 月 12 日から 4 月 16 日まで 175 バッチの N95 マスクと 31 バッチのサージカルマスクを対象に実施した。バッチのサンプルに対して 5 つの品質管理試験を実施し、包装の完全性、マスクの外観、ゴムひもの破壊強度とノーズクリップの強度、顔面への密着度を調べた。
結果
FFP2 マスクのバッチの 49％は指示を遵守しており、バッチの 32％は遵守しているもののやや懸念があり、バッチの 19％は遵守していなかった。サージカルマスクではバッチの 58％が遵守しており、バッチの 39％は遵守しているものの懸念があり、バッチの 3％は遵守していなかった。
結論
非遵守の主な部位はゴムひもの破壊強度とノーズクリップであったが、これらの理由だけで、マスクが受け入れ不可になってしまうとは考えられなかった。マスクの外観と顔面への密着度の結果のみが決定的な非遵守の基準であった。
監訳者コメント：
期限切れ（期限は 2001 年から 2018 年）の N95 マスクとサージカルマスクの使用について検討した論文である。古くなった N95 マスクでは鼻の部分のプラスティックがボロボロになっている写真が掲載されており、外観の劣化が起きることがわかった。
