Is there a risk for bacterial transmission from surgical marker pens?

手術前の皮膚マーキング用のマーカーは複数回使用され、細菌伝播のリスクを有する。細菌汚染は超音波処理と培養によって評価した。多剤耐性を評価するため、通性病原体に抗菌薬感受性試験を実施した。細菌汚染とマーカーの充填状態の統計学的関連性を評価するため、加速寿命モデルを適用した。45 本のマーカーのうち 13 本はコロニー数が 10 cfu/mL 未満であり、32 本は 10 ～ 12,500 cfu/mL であった。3 本のマーカーには黄色ブドウ球菌（Staphylococcus aureus）が定着していた。多剤耐性菌は認められなかった。伝播リスクを減少させるため、マーカーの使い捨てを推奨する。

確かに手術用マーカーから細菌が伝播するリスクはあるが、それが臨床的に重要かどうかは不明である。
