Healthcare workers’ attitudes to how hand hygiene performance is currently monitored and assessed

手指衛生の遵守率を高く維持する上で、医療従事者の関与は重要である。しかし、手指衛生遵守のモニタリング方法に関する医療従事者の態度については、報告が少ない。本研究では、直接観察を手指衛生モニタリングにおけるゴールドスタンダードと見なす医療従事者の視点について調査した。さらに、新規モニタリング技術に対する医療従事者の意見について調査した。英国国民保健サービス（NHS）のトラスト 2 施設の全スタッフに電子メールで調査票を送付し、1,120 件の回答を分析した。回答の多くは看護スタッフおよび医師が占めており、医療従事者の 58％は直接観察による手指衛生遵守の評価を強くは推奨していなかった。スタッフは、代替的な新規技術の検討に対しては肯定的であった。

監訳者コメント：
英国では手指衛生遵守の標準的なモニタリング方法である直接観察法の限界が認識されており、半数以上の医療従事者が直接観察法を強く推奨していない点が興味深い。改めて直接観察法の問題点を認識するのによい論文である。
