The drugs don’t work: evaluation of educational theatre to gauge and influence public opinion on antimicrobial resistance

抗菌薬耐性（AMR）に関する公衆の認識の向上は、効果的な抗菌薬管理対策における重要な要素である。「薬は効かない」と題した劇の実演を通して、AMR について公衆の関心を引くために、専門家委員会とともに演劇教育を使用した。AMR に関する観客の知識と理解を、演劇前後の質問票により評価した。演劇の実践および専門家委員会メンバーとの議論により、抗菌薬の誤用および処方など AMR に関する観客の知識と理解が有意に改善した。演劇教育は有益な学習体験を提供するとともに、公衆衛生上の重要なメッセージの普及を図る公衆参加による画期的な方法である。

抗菌薬耐性（AMR）は世界的な問題であるが、一般人が AMR の重要性を理解し、さらに行動変容にまで繋げることは至難の業である。これまでパンフレット、ポスター、ビデオ、そしてソーシャルメディアを通じて、情報発信してきたが決して十分な効果が得られているとは言えない。一方、演劇教育はこれまで HIV や喫煙で実施された実績がある。本論文では演劇により AMR を理解してもらう試みを実施している。シナリオは 3 部構成で、①大半がウイルス性の呼吸器感染症にもかかわらず一般人が抗菌薬処方を期待する、②抗菌薬の適正使用にむけた取り組み、③不必要あるいは不適切な抗菌薬使用による耐性菌感染症発症の結末、そして演劇終了後に専門家と AMR と抗菌薬適正使用について議論する、という構成である。演劇の導入により一般人の理解が進み、行動変容につながるという結論である。
