抗菌薬耐性は、治療失敗のリスクと医療費を増大させる、地球規模の保健衛生（グローバルヘルス）上の重大な脅威といえる。抗菌薬耐性が拡がる要因として最も多いものの一つは、セルフメディケーションである。一般市民、そして臨床医学・獣医学の医療従事者が、適切な抗菌薬の使用に反する誤った慣行を行ってしまうことが、耐性の拡散を促している。このため、レバノン初の抗菌薬啓発週間キャンペーンが、人を中心としたインタラクティブな手法を用いて開始された。得られたデータからは、抗菌薬への認識が極めて低いレベルにあることが判明した。抗菌薬耐性の問題をコントロールし、克服するには、関連する利害関係者、政策立案者、医療における当事者の連携が極めて重要である。

監訳者コメント：
抗菌薬耐性（AMR）対策の推進にあたり、どの集団にどのようなアプローチで行っていくかは様々であり、数多くの施行例とその成果が報告されている。本検討ではセルフメディケーションが行きわたっているレバノンにおいて、母親や大学生を主対象とし、レクチャー、インタビュー、ポスター、フェイスブック等を組み合わせた啓発、教育活動を行った。一般市民の認識を具体的に把握することは、AMR 対策の基本をなすといえるが、その手法、および得られた情報についての解析、ならびに対策の立案と実行は、AMR 対策が推進されていく過程においても、見直しやフィードバックがなされるものであろう。レバノンでの AMR 対策について、今後の推移が注目される。
