フランス西部のナーシングホーム 3 施設におけるカルバペネマーゼ産生腸内細菌科細菌（CPE）のアウトブレイク 3 件を、後向きに評価した。近隣の病院への入院時に、CPE の保菌または感染が全体で 10 例検出された。それらの症例において、抗菌薬の使用または身体的な脆弱性の高さはほとんどみられなかった。ナーシングホームは、CPE の蔓延を抑制するための地域戦略に含めるべきである。

監訳者コメント：
ナーシングホームも CPE のアウトブレイク・水平伝播の重要なソースになるとする報告である。ただし考察では、ナーシングホームで厳密な接触予防策をすべきだとするのではなく、まずは標準予防策を徹底すべきだとしている。日本でも長期療養施設における感染対策はまだ議論が始まったところである。このような研究結果やわが国の耐性菌の検出状況も見ながら、日本の長期療養施設での感染対策を考えていく必要があるだろう。
