医療環境において Codonics D6000TM 除菌システムを用いた短波長紫外線による携帯型タブレットデバイスの汚染除去

携帯電話やタブレット型コンピューターは、微生物によって汚染される可能性があり、医療従事者と患者間における病原体の交差感染の潜在的なリザーバとなりうる。医療現場において、携帯電話の汚染を低減する方法に関して広く一般的に受け入れられているガイダンスはない。本研究の目的は、Codonics D6000TM 短波長紫外線（UV-C）除菌デバイスの有効性を検証することである。連日の除菌により、画面と保護ケースの汚染が有意に低減した（試験群）が、すべての保護ケースの汚染が除去できたわけではなかった（対照群）。除菌前の保護ケースの好気性菌のコロニー数中央値は、対照群では 52 cfu/25 cm2 （四分位範囲：33 ～ 89）、試験群では 22 cfu/25 cm2 （四分位範囲：10.5 ～ 41）であった。

監訳者コメント：
かつて白衣を紫外線殺菌して使用する器具が国内でも普及したが、照射が及ばないポケットの内側などにたいする配慮がないなどの点もあり使用されなくなった。紫外線殺菌の特徴として菌種によっては紫外線殺菌に時間がかかるなど課題がある。紫外線照射直後には菌がかなり低減していても、時間経過とともに残存していた菌が再度増殖することを本研究では指摘している。
