Validation of a national hand hygiene proxy measure in NHS Scotland

スコットランドにおける手指衛生の国内的な代理評価単位は、実施された手指衛生機会の患者ベッド日当たりの件数であり、その指標として国民保健サービス（NHS）スコットランド委員会が購入した擦式アルコール製剤の量が用いられている。代理評価単位の算出は、手指衛生機会当たりで擦式アルコール製剤 3 mL が使用されるという仮定に基づいている。本研究は、手指衛生機会当たりで使用される擦式アルコール製剤の量を検証することを目的とした。その結果、手指衛生機会当たりで実際に使用される擦式アルコール製剤の量は中央値で約 1 mL であること、また検証されたこの量を算出に用いることにより、手指衛生遵守の代理評価単位が大幅に増加することが明らかになった。

監訳者コメント：
1 回あたりのアルコール使用量が 1 mLだったということに、大きく納得した。日本の医療環境でも、使用量の不十分さは介入が難しいところであると思われる。
