The global hand-sanitizing relay: promoting hand hygiene through innovation

「Clean Care is Safer Care（清潔なケアはより安全なケア）」プログラムの 10 周年を迎え、世界保健機関（WHO）患者安全共同センターは「全世界手指衛生リレー 2015（Global Hand Sanitizing Relay 2015）」を開始した。この包括的な活動は、手指衛生遵守を改善するために WHO 擦式法を推進する。43 か国の 133 病院から 15,000 名を超える医療従事者が参加した。2015 年 5 月から 9 月までに、14 病院がキャンペーン前および後の手指衛生遵守データを提出した。57％（14 病院中 8 病院）で有意な上昇が報告されたが、その他では最小限の改善または改善なし（平均絶対変化率 9.4％）であった。この全世界手指衛生リレー 2015 によって、医療従事者は、手指衛生遵守を改善するための新たな戦略に関心があることが明らかになった。

監訳者コメント：
手指衛生は院内感染を予防する手段として有効であることを誰もが理解しているにもかかわらず、未だに解決できていない院内感染の課題である。毎年 5 月 5 日は WHO が決めた「世界手指衛生の日」である。手指衛生をを習慣化あるいは文化として、また日常的な医療行為として定着させるために多くの試みがなされている。世界手指衛生リレーもその一環である。しかしながら、手指衛生の遵守率は、一時的に改善はするが、時間と共に低下することが世界共通の悩みであり、未だに未解決の課題でもある。人間行動科学の面からのアプローチもなされているが、まだまだ「患者の安全」を保証するには多くの課題が残されている。
