Microbicidal effects of plain soap vs triclocarban-based antibacterial soap

本研究の目的は、普通石けんと抗菌性石けんの殺菌効果を明らかにすることであった。普通石けんと 0.3％トリクロカルバン含有の抗菌性石けんに、グラム陽性菌 10 株およびグラム陰性菌 10 株を22°C および 40°C で 20 秒間曝露させて、殺菌効果を調べた。グラム陰性菌よりもグラム陽性菌のほうが、どちらの石けんに対しても感受性が高かった。しかし、ただひとつの例外（エンテロコッカス・フェカーリス［Enterococcus faecalis］ATCC 19433 株を 40°C で曝露させた場合）を除き、いずれの温度でも薬用石けんと非薬用石けんで効果に差はなかった。石けん中のトリクロカルバンは、石けんの使用中に意義のある細菌レベルの低下をもたらさない。

監訳者コメント：
トリクロカルバンは、様々な「抗菌石けん」に配合されているが、細菌の耐性、発がん性、急性／慢性毒性、内分泌撹乱、アレルゲン、環境汚染などの健康・環境への悪影響も報告されている。2013 年米国食品医薬局（FDA）が「抗菌石けんが通常の石けんに勝るという抗菌効果の臨床データが不十分」との見解をだし、2018 年 9 月に販売禁止とした。これを受けて、日本でもトリクロサンやトリクロカルバンを含む抗菌石けん（薬用石けん）は今後販売が中止される方向になるであろう。
