Quantitative impact of direct, personal feedback on hand hygiene technique

本研究では、客観的、個人的、かつ定量的なフィードバックを提供する新規研修デバイスを用いて、手指衛生技術に対する効果を調査した。ハンガリーの病院 3 施設の医療従事者 136 名が、手指衛生技術の反復的評価に関する研究に参加した。紫外線ラベルを含有する擦式手指洗浄剤を各手指洗浄イベントで使用し、その後、紫外線照射下で手指のデジタル画像を撮影した。客観的な視覚的フィードバックを参加者に即時に提供し、手指上の洗浄されていない部分を提示した。不適切な手指洗浄の発生率は、50％から 15％へ低下した（P ＜ 0.001）。しかし、この低下した発生率を維持するためには、電子機器の継続的な使用が必要であると考えられる。

グリッターバグ^®など、専用ローションと紫外線ライトを用いた手指衛生評価ツールを用いた手指衛生教育は、日本でも多くの医療施設で行われている。本研究はそういった手指衛生教育の効果について「状態遷移図（transition diagram）」や「一般化推定方程式（generalized estimation equation）」を用いて評価したものである。よく行われているプラクティスが、異なる領域の専門家とのコラボレーションによって「科学」に昇華され得る好例であるが、アブストラクトはシンプルに記載されているものの、本文は非専門家にとって理解するのは極めて困難である。
