Quantitative assessment of organizational culture within hospitals and its relevance to infection prevention and control strategies

これまでに、組織文化は医療従事者の感染予防・制御行動の重要な促進因子であることが示唆されている。本研究では、欧州の 7 病院の組織文化を、Hofstede モデルに基づく妥当性が検証された評価ツールを用いて調査し、組織文化スコアには大きなばらつきがあることを明らかにした。メチシリン耐性黄色ブドウ球菌（meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus；MRSA）の検出率が低い病院では、変革促進のスコアおよび変革への備えのスコアが高値であったのに対して、MRSA の検出率が高い病院ではこれらの決定因子のスコアは低値であった。病院内の組織文化を研究し、感染予防・制御行動の変革戦略についてさらに理解するために、非医療分野で利用可能なツールを用いることができる。

Hofstede は、1991 年 IBM 社において実施した国民文化・組織文化に関する定量的研究で注目された学者である。この理論を病院における組織文化の評価に応用した研究が、本論文である。調査した病院数は少ないものの、興味ある結果が得られており、感染対策を推進するうえで、その病院の組織文化を考慮したアプローチが必要であることを示唆している。
