Characteristics and outcome predictors of patients involved in an outbreak of Burkholderia cepacia complex

イタリアの集中治療室（ICU）で人工呼吸器を装着した非嚢胞性線維症患者にバークホルデリア・セパシア（Burkholderia cepacia）complex のアウトブレイクが発生した。保菌患者 33 例および感染患者 13 例を対象として後向き研究を実施し、臨床的感染および死亡に関連する因子を検討した。人口統計学的特性、臨床的特性、および死亡率は保菌患者群と感染患者群で大きな相違はなく、いずれの群も ICU の全患者集団と比較して死亡率が高かったが、その他の感染症患者の死亡率とは同等であった。多変量回帰分析による早期死亡の独立予測因子は、疾患重症度（Simplified Acute Physiology Score II により定義）（オッズ比［OR］1.12、95％信頼区間［CI］1.02 ～ 1.26）および年齢（OR 1.07、95％CI 1.01 ～ 1.15）のみであった。
