First UK evaluation of an automated ultraviolet-C room decontamination device (Tru-D^™)

Tru-D^™ は短波長紫外線照射により微生物を殺滅させる自動室内消毒装置である。本装置を個室 6 室と手術室 1 室に配置した。通常の清掃後の空室の手術室では、Tru-D^™は環境中のすべての微生物を根絶した。メチシリン耐性黄色ブドウ球菌（meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus；MRSA）、多剤耐性アシネトバクター（Acinetobacter）属菌、またはバンコマイシン耐性腸球菌を人工的に播種したペトリ皿を用いて評価した場合のコロニー形成単位の平均 log₁₀ 減少値は、照射量 22,000 μWs/cm² で 3 ～ 4 であった。本装置は移動と使用が容易で、室内の迅速な消毒が可能であった。これは、他の「非接触式」自動室内消毒装置に代わる実用的な技術であると考えられる。
