Comparison of two selective media for the recovery of Clostridium difficile from environmental surfaces

英国の病院内の環境表面からクロストリジウム・ディフィシル（Clostridium difficile）を分離する性能を、2 種類の培地で比較評価した。培地として、リゾチーム加セフォキシチン-シクロセリン-卵黄寒天培地（CCEY/L）および chromID C. difficile を使用した。様々な環境表面から滅菌スポンジ（Polywipes）を用いてサンプル採取を行い、両培地に接種した。両培地を併せて、496 の検査部位の 105 部位（21％）から C. difficile が回収された。chromID C. difficile の感度は 87.6％であったのに対して、CCEY/L は 26.6％であった（P ＜ 0.0001）。環境からの C. difficile 回収は、chromID C. difficile のほうが CCEY/L よりも有意に優れていた。
