Minor outbreak of extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae in an intensive care unit due to a contaminated sink

スウェーデンの 3 次病院の脳神経外科集中治療室で、基質特異性拡張型β-ラクタマーゼ産生肺炎桿菌（Klebsiella pneumoniae）菌株による感染・保菌が 7 か月間に 4 例の患者に認められた。調査の結果、アウトブレイクの感染源は汚染されたシンクであることが判明した。シンクと配管を交換し、シンクの使用にかかわる日常業務を改善することによって、アウトブレイクの制御に成功した。
