本報告では、計画的メンテナンスプログラムの実施中に、水中分娩用プールへの給水設備からレジオネラ・ニューモフィラ（Legionella pneumophila）血清型 1 が分離されたことを受けてのリスクアセスメントと、その後の措置について述べる。新生児レジオネラ症症例に関する文献を検索したところ、生後 2 か月未満の乳児の症例の報告が 24 件特定され、このうち 2 件が水中分娩に関連していた。これに基づいて、レジオネラ属菌が検出されなくなるまでプールを閉鎖した。給水の超塩素処理（hyperchlorination）の効果が不十分であったため、制御は困難であることが判明した。プールに給湯する温度調節式混合栓にフィルタを設置したところ、満水になるまでの時間が大幅に延びたため、十分な流量を得るために蛇口を追加する必要が生じた。

水治療施設でも温浴をする可能性のある装置では、レジオネラ対策が欠かせない。
