Qualitative study on perceptions of hand hygiene among hospital staff in a rural teaching hospital in India

背景
手指衛生は、医療関連感染の制御のための簡便な方法であるが、十分に実施されていない。
目的
フォーカスグループ・ディスカッション^※により、インドの教育病院の職員の手指衛生に対する認識について調査すること。
方法
質的研究を行った。感染症の伝播、手指衛生の実践と実施に伴う問題、および手指衛生に関する勧告の遵守を改善する方法についての質問が記載されたフォーカスグループ・ディスカッションの手引きを使用した。フォーカスグループ・ディスカッションは録音して速記録を作成し、ヒンディー語の場合は英訳して、内容分析を行った。
結果
2 つの課題が浮上した。すなわち、「知識・信念、動機、実践、およびニーズのそれぞれの相互関係性」および「状況に即したアプローチと介入を持続的かつ効果的に実施するための役割と責任」である。職員は全般的に、医療関連感染の予防には手指衛生が重要であることを理解していたが、実施に関する実務的な問題についても認識していた。
結論
職員から様々な介入法が提案された。病院が必要な設備を提供すれば、職員は手指衛生ガイドラインに従う用意ができていると考えられた。
