病院感染に関する医療施設間の集計データの解析と報告が、透明性と説明責任の確保のために必要である。医療施設内の時系列分析の透明性と説明責任の確保には、異なる分析手法が必要である。さらに、計画立案や一般への情報提供にはバイアスのない情報の要約が求められる。著者らは、エビデンスに基づくシステムの導入が、医療施設のパフォーマンスと安全性の向上にとって重要であると考える。これには、コンプライアンス、アウトカムの監査、および統計的プロセス管理法などによるアウトカムデータの時系列分析が必須である。チェックリストは、エビデンスに基づくシステムの確実な導入を支援するのに有用であろう。透明性と説明責任の確保のためのアウトカム集計データの解析では、主としてアウトカムを高い精度をもって正確に提示することを重視すべきである。本稿では単純集計表、漏斗プロット法、およびランダム効果（shrinkage plot）解析について説明し、リーグ表、星評価、および信頼区間を用いた比較については取り上げない。
