Audit of the laboratory diagnosis of Clostridium difficile infection in the UK

英国の臨床病理医協会（Association of Clinical Pathologists）および王立病理医協会（Royal College of Pathologists）がキール大学と共同して、クロストリジウム・ディフィシル（Clostridium difficile）感染症の臨床検査診断に関する全国的監査を実施した。すべてのConsultant Microbiologistに質問票を郵送し、解析対象とすることが可能な80件の回答を得た。臨床検査業務にはかなりのばらつきがあり、具体例として、毒素陰性検体の追跡検査に関する指導を行っている検査室は56％のみ、週7日間診断業務を行っている検査室は68％、入院患者の毒素検査陽性を病棟の看護師や医師にルーチンに通知している検査室は66％であった。C. difficile感染症の診断アプローチを一貫性のあるものにするには、現行のガイダンスよりも詳細かつ指示的なガイダンスが検査室に必要である。

監訳者コメント：
今回の調査では、CDIの対策が急務であるにもかかわらず、検査室における検査体制が十分整備されていないことが浮き彫りになった。ガイダンスはやはりガイダンスなので、もう少し突っ込んだ内容のガイドラインが望まれていることがわかる。
