6月11日（監訳者註：日本時間2009年6月12日）、WHOはH1N1インフルエンザ流行がパンデミック・フェーズ6に到達したと宣言した。それ以降、世界中の国々が継続的なパンデミックに対する計画および備えを強化している。ガイドラインが公表され配布されているが、その解釈について混乱が続いている。我々は、制御対策の背景にある基本原理をよく認識し、急性期の病院環境における標準的な感染制御対策の教育と強化を行う必要がある。

監訳者コメント：
新型インフルエンザA/H1N1 2009ウイルスの流行の今後について予想することは困難である。医療提供体制を含む公衆衛生的な対応はモニタリングの結果に従ってさらに検討を続けていく必要があるが、いずれにせよ、医療現場にあっては隔離予防策の原則に従った冷静な対応が求められる。
