An outbreak of Halomonas phocaeensis sp. nov. bacteraemia in a neonatal intensive care unit

チュニジアのチュニスにある新生児集中治療施設で、6例の新生児の血液培養から未同定の好気性グラム陰性桿菌が回収された。16S rRNAの遺伝子配列決定により、これらはHalomonas属に属し、最も近い近縁種の配列との相同性は97％未満であることが明らかになった。これらの細菌に固有の表現型の特徴が認められたことから新種であることが示され、Halomonas phocaeensis sp. nov.という菌名が提案された。症例対照研究および条件つきロジスティック回帰分析により、新鮮凍結血漿の投与が、H. phocaeensis菌血症発症の唯一の独立危険因子であることが示唆された。観察研究により、新鮮凍結血漿を水槽で加温したことが示された。本稿はH. phocaeensis菌血症の院内アウトブレイクの初めての報告であり、医療現場の不十分な水の衛生管理に関連する感染リスクについて述べる。
