Does hospital cleanliness correlate with meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteraemia rates?

英国の国民保健サービス（National Health Service）に加盟する全病院の公的に入手可能なデータを用いて、病院の清浄度とメチシリン耐性黄色ブドウ球菌（MRSA）による菌血症発症率とは関連しているか否かを調べた。重みづけしたPatient Environment Action Team（PEAT）スコアにより測定した病院の清浄度と、MRSAによる菌血症発症率との間に一定の関連を証明することはできなかった。データセットが大規模であるので、真の相関を見落としている可能性は低い。高い水準の病院の清浄度は意味のある目標だが、MRSA制御対策と環境清浄度の水準改善を繰り返し関連づけることは有用ではない。
