New shine on an old habit: a pilot study on a glow soap faucet system

適切な手洗い法と継続的遵守は医療関連感染を減少させる。最近開発された発光石鹸蛇口システム（GSFS）は、蛍光石鹸を光らせ使用者が、発光石鹸の拡がりと除去状況を視覚的に確認できる魅力的な方法を提供する。GSFS を医療訓練施設に設置したところ医療従事者の反応は非常に好意的で 93％が GSFS が「おそらく」または「確実に」自施設と同様の職場における感染率を低下させるとと回答した（N=136）。さらに、医療従事者以外の参加者による手洗い研究では、GSFS による洗浄は、標準的な洗浄と比べて、手に残る細菌が 3.1 倍減少したことが判明した（細菌の減少量：log₁₀値で 2.1 対 1.6、P ＜ 0.01）。
