Implementation and barriers to waterless care: a questionnaire study of infection prevention and control practitioners, clinicians, and engineers

背景

医療環境における水と廃水は、患者へのリスクであることが認識されている。しかしながら、英国の医療環境において、水を使用しないケアは広く実施されていない。

目的

水を使用しないケアの実施に対する阻害因子を特定すること。

方法

感染予防・制御（IPC）の専門家、IPC 部門以外の臨床医、ならびに建物管理者および技術者において質問票による調査を実施した。

結果

水の代替品、とくに入浴用清拭ワイプやドライシャンプーは、患者の受容性という点で課題がある。清拭ワイプについては、保管、廃棄、持続可能性、製造中の汚染の観点から懸念がある。建物および技術面での懸案事項は、水の入れ替えにおける水タンクの相対的なサイズ、ならびに作業による臨床の混乱などである。

結論

水の使用を減らす計画についての受容性および患者の見解に関してさらなる研究が必要であるが、この質問票の結果は、水を使用しないケアに関して医療従事者の所感の根拠を提示している。

院内で水を使用しない患者ケアの導入について考察した論文である。水を介した感染リスクを見極め、感染対策を実施すべきであろう。
