病院に特有の表面における環境サンプリング：現行の実践の調査およびガイドラインの必要性★

背景
医療施設内の表面は、感染のリザーバとしての役割を果たし得る。現在、病院内の表面のサンプリングをいつどのように行うかについて、標準化されたプロトコールは存在しない。
目的
現在のサンプリングの実践について洞察を得るためにウェブベースの質問票を作成し、対象とする感染予防・制御担当者に回答してもらうよう、電子メールで配布した。
方法
本調査は、一連の健康に関連する細菌種を対象としたサンプルの採取および処理に関する 26 の質問から構成されていた。
結果
回答者の大部分は臨床微生物学者または感染予防・制御担当者で、57.3％はオランダ、英国、またはアイルランドを拠点としていた。回答者は、自己報告による知識レベルは高かったが、このことは特定の質問に対する回答とは一致していなかった。サンプリング箇所について、同一国内または多国間においてコンセンサスはなかった。対象とした微生物のすべてについて、間接的サンプリング法が好まれており、綿スワブおよびフロックスワブ※が最も多く用いられている方法であった。
結論
本調査の結果から、同一国内または多国間において環境サンプリングにばらつきがあること、また指針とコンセンサスが必要であることが明確に示される。
監訳者コメント：
オランダでの環境サンプリングの実践についての研究。環境サンプリングには標準化されたものはなく、オランダ国内外でサンプリング方法にばらつきがみられた。現在は環境サンプリングは必要に応じて実践されているが、筆者らが言うように今後、ガイドラインによる標準化が必要と考えられる。
※フロックスワブとは樹脂製の軸の先端部に短い繊維がブラシ状に植え付けられているスワブである。
