2020 年 1 月から 2021 年 1 月に欧州 9 か国で COVID-19 に罹患した医療従事者の入院および死亡リスク

本稿は、欧州 9 か国の医療従事者と非医療従事者を対象に、2020 年 1 月 31 日から 2021 年 1 月 13 日までの新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID-19）の罹患率、入院、集中治療室（ICU）入室、死亡について示し、比較した。医療従事者（非医療従事者と比較）の感染症発症、入院、ICU 入室、死亡の補正率比は、それぞれ 3.0（95％信頼区間［CI］ 2.2 ～ 4.0）、1.8（95％CI 1.2 ～ 2.7）、1.9（95％CI 1.1 ～ 3.2）、0.9（95％CI 0.4 ～ 2.0)であった。入院症例における致死率は、医療従事者では 1.8％、非医療従事者では 8.2％であった。この差は、良好な治療機会／早期治療開始、過小確認の差、健康労働者効果に起因する可能性がある。
監訳者コメント：
医療従事者の COVID-19 による致死率は非医療従事者と比べて低い。これは①感染を早期に認識できること、②治療を早期に受けられること、が原因として考えられる。予想通りと言えば予想通りか。逆に言えば、医療従事者と同様のケアを提供できれば大幅に致死率を低下させられる、ということでもあるが。
