SARS-CoV-2 変異株のステンレス鋼表面上での残存の比較★

環境安定性の改善が、重症急性呼吸器症候群コロナウイルス‐2(SARS-CoV-2)の新規変異株の伝播性の増大に関与しうるか否かを明らかにするために、代表的な表面上の SARS-CoV-2 変異株の生存能を、英国で見つかった流行株と比較した。ステンレス鋼の小片に液体培養された3 種の変異株を播種後、小片を 7 日間にわたり順次回収して、プラークアッセイにより培養可能な生存ウイルスを回収した。乾燥後、変異株間の不活化率に有意差はなく、環境表面上での新規変異株の残存率の増加はみられないことが示された。
監訳者コメント:
実験に使用された変異株は、英国で分離された流行株が使用され、現在では WHO でアルファ株とベータ株と呼ばれている 2 株が含まれている。従来株と変異株とでは環境での残存率に変化はなく、7 日間ですべて分離不能となり、従来株と同様の感染予防策で対応可能である。ただし、本論文で使用したウイルス量は 106 個/mL という非常に大量のウイルスを使用しており、実際の汚染環境とは異なっている可能性もあり、48 時間で1/1,000 以上に低下するとの報告もある。SARS-CoV-2 で汚染された環境は、手指を介した感染伝播の可能性があることを示唆しており、環境整備の重要性に変わりはない。
