Prevalence and significance of bacterial contamination of autologous stem cell products

造血幹細胞および前駆細胞産物における汚染の有病率に関しては、限られた矛盾する情報しかなく、そうした産物の最適な管理法は不明である。筆者らは、2002 年 1 月から 2019 年 12 月の間に収集された、当試験施設における自家細胞移植について造血幹細胞および前駆細胞産物に関する細菌学的サーベイランスのデータをレビューして、レシピエントにおける微生物汚染の有病率および感染性合併症の可能性を明らかにした。造血幹細胞および前駆細胞産物 3,935 個のうち、25 個（0.6％）に汚染が認められた。結果として、患者 22 例が汚染された細胞を移植され、先制的抗菌薬療法がこれらの患者のうち 6 例で開始されていた。その後に感染性合併症を発症した患者はいなかった。これらのデータから、自家造血幹細胞および前駆細胞産物の細菌汚染および関連する有害転帰はまれであることが示唆される。

監訳者コメント：

汚染した産物でコアグラーゼ陰性ブドウ球菌（CoNS）が最も多く検出されたが、CoNS の 87％がオキサシリン感受性であったことは興味深い。
