免疫低下患者は病院感染真菌感染症の発症リスクが高い。建築物由来の真菌感染症のリスクは確立しているが、水の侵入も迅速に対処されなければリスクをはらんでいる。本稿ではそのような 4 件の事例および各事例からの学習事項について記述した。水の侵入は過小に報告される可能性があり、したがって医療関連真菌感染症は過小評価されている感染源である可能性がある。
監訳者コメント：
本論文では、水回り、壁の裏に発生したカビ＝真菌に起因すると考えられた感染症の事例が紹介されている。日本においても、カビの発生のコントロールは極めて困難であり、よい解決策が見つからないところである。
