医療現場では消毒のような（多剤耐性）マイコバクテリアの伝播を防ぐ安全な方策が必要不可欠である。欧州では化学消毒薬は EN 14348 に記載された国際的に認められている試験方法により殺結核菌活性および殺抗酸菌活性について試験されている。しかし、特にアミン含有の消毒薬に対しては、不十分な中和が原因でこの方法では無効な結果が生じる可能性がある。今回の複数の研究室による研究では、特にアミン含有の消毒薬に対して有効で確実な方法を得るため、EN 14348 に記載された方法を化学的中和と膜ろ過の併用によって最適化した。

監訳者コメント：
抗酸菌は低水準消毒薬に抵抗性があり、有効な消毒薬を選択する必要がある。本研究は抗酸菌に対する消毒薬の評価方法の改良の報告である。
