市販のフェイスマスクの適切な代替品はあるか?様々な素材と形状の比較

背景
医療用品質のフェイスマスクが世界的に不足している。マスクの着用は新型コロナウイルス(SARS-CoV-2)の伝播抑制において重要な役割を果たす可能性がある。
目的
医療用フェイスマスクが不足している間に容易に入手できる素材を用いて簡単に作ることができ、人々が公共の場で着用するための効果的なマスクがあるかどうかを結論づけること。
方法
我々はフェイスマスクを作るために容易に入手できる素材と型の有効性を明らかにした。結果は 2020 年 4 月から 5 月にオランダに入ってきた N95/FFP2/KN95 マスクと比較した。0.3 µm の粒子を 35%以上濾過するかどうか、疎水性かどうか、顔面を密閉するかどうか、呼吸可能かどうか、および洗濯可能かどうかを明らかにするためにマスクを検査した。
結果
25 の(組み合わせの)素材のうち 14 が 0.3 µm の粒子を 35%以上濾過した。疎水性が証明された 4 つの素材はすべて市販のフィルターであった。2 つの型は顔面を密閉した。25 の素材のうち 22 は 0.7 mbar 未満で呼吸可能であった。疎水性の素材で洗濯後に損傷のないままのものはなかった。
結論
市販の ePM₁ 85%フィルターの生地でダックビル型に作ったマスクを人口の 39%が着用すれば、新型コロナウイルスの再生産率を 2.4 から 1 未満に低下させることが可能だろう。このマスクは輸入された N95/FFP2/KN95 マスクの 80%よりも性能が高く、サージカルマスクよりも良くフィットする。家庭用のペーパータオルをフィルターにした 2 層のキルト生地も使用者と環境の保護のために実行可能な選択肢の 1 つである。
