背景
皮膚消毒として使用されるポビドンヨードアルコールは術後感染リスクを低下させるが、粘膜での使用に関するエビデンスはない。そのため、泌尿器科で手術を受けた男性の亀頭において忍容性試験を実施した。

目的
粘膜でポビドンヨードアルコールを使用することの安全性を確認すること。

方法
ポビドンヨードアルコールの亀頭の粘膜への使用の影響を、色彩色差計を用いて測定した。亀頭に皮膚病変がなく、経尿道的内視鏡手術を受けた白人男性が含まれた。(L^*a^*b^*) の測定は、術前および術後に第三者 1 名によって行われた。広く認められた公式であるΔE ＝ √(ΔL² ＋ Δa² ＋ Δb²) を用いてパラメータを比較した。

結果
平均年齢 68.9 ± 10.4 歳の患者 96 例が含まれた。L^* に関して、術前術後の平均差は＋2.36（P ＝ 0.168）であった。a^* と b^* に関して、術前術後の平均差はそれぞれ＋0.13（P ＝ 0.9085）、－0.12（P ＝ 0.17089）であった。ΔE は13.92 &plusmn 17.49 であった（有意差なし）。

結論
本研究は、生殖器の粘膜に対するポビドンヨードアルコールの影響を分析した初の研究である。本研究の条件ではポビドンヨードアルコールは粘膜に影響を与えず、安全に使用できることが示唆された。
