Comparative activity of a polyhexanide-betaine solution against biofilms produced by multidrug-resistant bacteria belonging to high-risk clones

本研究の目的は、高リスクのクローンおよび／または多剤耐性菌のクローンのバイオフィルムに対するポリヘキサニド（ポリヘキサメチレンビグアナイド）・ベタイン（PHMB-B）の効果を、2％クロルヘキシジンと比較して検討することであった。両方の消毒薬の最小発育阻止濃度は微量希釈によって決定した。バイオフィルムに対する PHMB-B およびクロルヘキシジンの効果は、分光光度法および細胞生存アッセイによって評価した。PHMB-B は市販濃度で、供試したすべての病原体の 24 時間、48 時間、1 週間のバイオフィルムを減少させた。PHMB-B は 2％クロルヘキシジンと比較して、グラム陰性菌の 24 時間、48 時間のバイオフィルムおよびグラム陽性菌の 7 日間のバイオフィルムに対し、より活性が高かった。まとめると、これらのバイオフィルムにおいて PHMB-B の活性は 2％クロルヘキシジンより優れていた。

監訳者コメント：
ポリヘキサニドは、コンタクトレンズの洗浄保存剤として使用されているが、黄色ブドウ球菌に対する活性や、局所投与としての急性外傷性創傷への効果についても知見が得られている。バイオフィルムに対する効果が証明され、詳細な情報が明らかになることは、コンタクトレンズのみならず、デバイス一般について本剤の用途が広がる可能性を意味すると思われる。
