医療関連侵襲性アスペルギルス症と病院の建設／改修工事との関連は十分に認識されている。この感染症は著しい病的状態や死亡の原因となる可能性があり、医療システムに実質的な負担をもたらす。この日和見感染症のリスクがある患者集団は増大しており、複数のトリアゾール系薬に対する耐性が世界的に出現している。そこで、急性期ケア施設において侵襲性アスペルギルス症の感染予防を図る多面的アプローチが必要となる。本稿は、医療関連アスペルギルス症予防のための Irish National Guideline のサマリーであり、公表済みの報告、国際的な臨床ガイドライン、正式な工学基準、技術指針に基づくものである。計画／建設前、建設中、建設後の各段階での侵襲性アスペルギルス症予防のための重要な推奨および対策について論じる。多領域専門家チームの関与、教育、および情報交換の重要性が強調される。

日本でも米国の pre-construction risk assessment（PCRA）を導入する施設が増えている。国公立大学附属病院感染対策協議会のガイドラインでも PCRA が標準化されている。米国では州の法律で PCRA を規定している場合が多い。
